Just Dance 3

Just a little taste from our Dance Off competition in Indiana...these boys were cracking us up! This is Brandon and his buddy Landon. No, there are no videos of me...on purpose. I'm no dummy.

Barbies = Not So Fun Kellie

Fun Kellie is not so fun when it comes to Barbies. I am not a fan. I never have been a huge fan. As much as my mom DESPERATELY wanted me to love barbies and tried to get me interested...barbie dollhouse, swimming pool with deck for barbie, pink convertible for barbie, barbie clothes galore...it just didn't do it for me. I'd play occasionally but not with the 'heart and soul' that my mom still has! Well, all I can say, be careful what you ask for. Megan desperately LOVES barbies...so much so, she can never have enough dolls, clothes, accessories, etc. She loves to play barbies...and guess what?! When Megan wants to play barbies, Nonie gets to play them when Fun Kellie is in Dallas AND when Fun Kellie is visiting Waco. I still don't like barbies. I despise changing their clothes for no good purpose...over and over and over. Over the holidays, I had a weak moment when begged and begged...but not THAT weak. If I'm going to play, I play by my own rules. Megan was not impressed.

Head Butt!! Still cracks me up...

Oops!! Ha!!
(oh stop...I didn't really make his head fall off. It did it on it's own.)

Meet the Parents

Brandon and I flew this past weekend to Indiana to officially meet the parents. A snowstorm hit the day before we were supposed to fly out there so we were going from 65 degree weather in Dallas to temps in the 20's...and on Sunday as we went to church, it was 7 degrees. Holy Cold!! But, it did make for very pretty landscapes and some fun activities!! I've never been sledding so they scrambled to pull together some warm clothes for me and we all took off to the hills behind the house to try it out! We all went down the hills for awhile until my fingers felt like they might freeze off, but it was so fun! I didn't take my camera on the trip but Brandon's mom took a few pics with her phone.

We also made some really cool snow angels...although it's really tough to see in this pic. And of course, Brandon had to throw me into a snow bank...how predictable are boys!?! :)

Overall, we had a fantastic time. We played Just Dance on the Wii...which was interesting to say the least but very fun! In scoring, I beat Brandon and let's face it, that's all that really matters! We took on his sister (Kasey) and her boyfriend (Phil) in a game of doubles ping pong...and we won (although I think it was more of a game of who could screw up less, me or Phil. Poor Kasey and Brandon had to make up for us!) We went to dinner, church, drove around the big town of Plymouth going through the highlights of the town...and I got to hear some fun stories of Brandon growing up. All in all, the trip was a success!! And, i think hope they approved of me!! I'm looking forward to their trip to Texas in March!

Holiday Fun!

I'm a little behind on blogging some of my holiday pics...but I'm going to catch up anyway. If Mica is going to keep posting 2011 stuff, so can I! Here are just a few quick pics from some of the fun 'moments' the week Megan was in Dallas with me after Christmas.

Megan is just like her Nonie...she LOVES flowers...especially bright pretty ones. So of course we had to buy these at the grocery store the first night!

She insisted on giving Brandon a green one when he came over...and he was a great sport and 'wore' the flower like a champ!

We spent one afternoon visiting sweet Baby Harper. Megan fell in love with her and couldn't stop talking about her the rest of the time!

This just cracked me up...I gave Megan a 'real' microphone with a stand for Christmas. She LOVED it and had to carry it around with her everywhere she went. We are eating breakfast one morning and she has it inches from her chair...just in case she felt the need to break out into song or something...my Megan. Always prepared.

We picked Brandon up for lunch one day...and ate at one of his favorite places, Buffalo Wild Wings. Megan was the queen of the day!

One afternoon we spent shopping with Mica and Ella. Ella was being a stinker and wouldn't let me take her picture...but, notice all the jewelry that they both have on. We took the girls to the $1 jewelry store and let them buy whatever...or pretty much whatever they wanted. Megan had to have pink and Ella had to have purple in EVERYTHING Megan had. Ella ended up with some very 'fine' jewelry!

Megan, all dressed up for her NYE par-tay and her big debut singing Grenade by Bruno Mars at Lisa and Jeff's talent show. She had a ball!

Brothers of the Sun

My mom has a few big ‘dreams’…one being skydiving. Check. Another being getting to see Kenny Chesney live in concert. She LOVES her some Kenny Chesney. She’s talked about coming up to Dallas for his concert for several years but has never worked out…bad timing, waiting too long to buy tix and it sold out, etc. She mentioned hearing on the radio a few months ago that he was coming to Dallas again in the Summer of 2012 and how badly she wanted to see him. Plus, he is touring with Tim McGraw…yummy!

Randomly, one day I got an email from the Dallas Cowboy fan club (who knew I was a member of that?!?) Anyway, it was a code to use during the special Cowboy fan pre-sale event. I knew this was going to be a tough Christmas. The minute I got the ‘pre-sale’ offer of tickets for this concert, I jumped on it. Well, after I saw the prices, I did have a ‘HOLY MOTHER moment’ BUT right after that, I bought the tix! It’s at the Cowboy Stadium which isn’t an ideal venue for a concert…so of course Brandon said I ‘had to’ get the lowest seats possible so that the sound was decent. $$$ Cha-ching! $$$

I was soooo excited. I couldn’t stand it. I got home for Christmas and as I knew it would be…it was tough with Granny’s condition. So, wanting to see the joy and excitement in my mom’s face without all the hustle and bustle of Christmas morning (and let’s face it, Megan ‘owns’ Christmas morning)…I couldn’t wait. I gave it to her a couple of days before Christmas. Don’t judge me…she needed it! It made her happy!! I love to see my momma happy! Betty, Kellie’s mom is one of the most amazing women I’ve ever known. She truly goes out of her way, in an annoying fashion sometimes, to make everyone else happy. She wears herself out trying to please everyone else, take care of everything at all times for everyone else….and rarely lets anyone do anything for her. So, when I find any opportunity to ‘surprise’ her, it’s worth every dollar it costs…every minute it takes…and every happy tear that’s shed.

Kenny Chesney. June 9, 2012. Cowboys Stadium, Arlington, TX. Check.

Christmas Ornaments

The Watson’s love Christmas decorations…especially ornaments. Our annual tradition growing up was to open one gift early and it was always a new Christmas ornament. We have some really fun, sentimental ones that always make for a good ‘trip down memory lane’ each year. My mom also kept anything we ever made…the good, the bad and the ugly (and Lord, do I have the winning ‘ugly’ one!! holy bad school pics!) One of my very favorites, that cracks me up every single year, is one that Brad made. I have no idea why but every year, it’s my favorite ornament to pull out of the box…I think it’s so sweet. And I love the innocence of child-written letters…especially to Santa.

Dear Santa, I whish I ad a big basketball gall like my neastneighborhoob. Love, Brad Watson
